Wastewater Treatment Plant
The Borough's Wastewater Treatment Plant is a 4 millions of gallons per day (MGD) rated facility, currently the plant treats an average of 1.5 MGD, or around 548 million gallons of sewage per year.
In the past several years, the plant has undergone some technological upgrades including a switch from chlorine to ultra-violet (UV) disinfection of the treated water that is discharged to the Schuylkill River. This has proven to be safer for the environment.
