We must also send a certified letter to the registered owner explaining that their vehicle is in violation and subject to being towed. If we do not receive a response, or if the vehicle has not been moved within 7 -10 days, we advise our towing service and they arrange to come out and tow away the vehicle.
All vehicles parked on a public street or in a public parking lot must have valid registration and inspection. The vehicle must also be operable.
Police will tag any vehicle which does not fit these criteria. Police will also ticket a vehicle which has been parked on private property without the owner’s permission, but will not tag it abandoned.
The owners of private property may tow away any vehicle which is parked on their property without the proper permission. This will be done at the vehicle owner’s expense.
Parking Tickets are necessary to encourage compliance with state laws and local ordinances. Limited parking has always been a problem in the Borough.
It is important for the safety and convenience of the residents and visitors of the Borough that motorists pay close attention to the numerous signs which regulate and/or prohibit parking in areas throughout the Borough.
Parking is always prohibited within 30’ of a stop sign, 15’ on either side of a fire hydrant, 20’ from a crosswalk, on any sidewalk, in front of a private drive or garage, on any bridge or any other place which is regulated with a properly posted sign.
You Can Pay parking tickets directly at the Police Department, by mail, or by dropping it in the drop box located in the main door to the Police Department.
Most parking tickets are $15.00 unless you happen to park illegally in a handicapped parking space. If you do not pay your parking ticket within 72 hours, the fine increases to $20.00. If the ticket is not paid, a late notice will be sent to the registered owner of the vehicle.
If payment is not received within four days, the ticket will be voided and a citation will be issued to the registered owner of the vehicle ticketed. If you were issued a parking ticket and wish to dispute it, you must request a hearing before the District Justice.
There are Free Municipal Lots throughout the Borough, you can see the Public Parking Map and the lots are listed below.

Chat with your neighbors and let them know that they may be inconvenienced on a specific day. It helps. Once we know the date and time that you are expecting a moving van, or have rented one yourself, it makes it easier.
You will need to pick the signs up from the Police Department at least two days prior so that the signs can be posted at least 24 hours in advance so that your neighbors will know in advance of the parking restriction.
You may also request signs if you are renovating and/or demolishing. Code Enforcement will refer you to our desk once you have all your paperwork in place. When must I stop for a school bus? (1) When the buses red
