Brian A. Watson, Borough of Phoenixville Public Works Director, announced today that the Borough’s semi-annual flushing of fire hydrants in the water system will begin on Monday, May 11, 2020 and continue for five weeks.  “The flushing program will begin in that portion of the Borough north of French Creek from Fillmore Street south to Bridge Street”, Watson said.  Flushing is scheduled to continue for five weeks in a southerly direction across town.  “We are scheduling the flushing between 9 A.M. and 2 P.M. in an effort to minimize the inconvenience to users of the system”, he stated.

Watson explained that the flushing of the water distribution system twice a year was an integral part of an overall maintenance program.  “Flushing of fire hydrants may cause cloudiness with your tap water and we ask for your patience, as this condition is only temporary”, he said.

Anyone with questions regarding the hydrant flushing can contact Water Distribution at 610-933-8801 from 8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.  “I would like to thank our customers for their cooperation and understanding during this time”, he said.  “The benefits from this maintenance work will be realized long after any temporary disturbance is past”, he said.
